I wish to thank all of you that attended the 50^th Anniversary celebration!  It was a historic day for our local.  My thanks and appreciation to the Anniversary Committee and all of the volunteers that made it happen.  Great Job! 

The General election for Executive Board as well as the R&E Unit and The Henry Ford Unit Election occurred on May 21, 2008.  Thanks to all members who signed up to run, and to those who came out and supported a candidate.  It was good to see so many involved in the election.  My thanks to the election committee for another great job!

I am extremely proud of the members of The Henry Ford unit as they came out in record numbers to vote in the strike authorization vote on Monday June 2, 2008.  They approved a strike if necessary by 97% I am currently in those negotiations with the Bargaining committee at The Henry Ford, so I may not be as available as usual.  Please feel free to leave a message at the local and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Negotiations intensified this week as the current contract expires Monday June 9, 2008 at midnight.  The talks are proving to be very difficult and I will update you as I can. 

I was pleased to be a part of the Detroit Race for the Cure on Saturday with our Local 245 Woman’s committee, and we look forward to taking on a bigger role in next years event.
